NOIDA: The Noida Authority is all set to take action against owners of over 850 properties in the city for non-payment of rent. There are around 500 platforms and 289 shops whose owners have not paid rent timely.
Licences have already been cancelled for 94 such properties including 28 government departments, 15 semi-government departments and eight public sector banks and these now face eviction, officials have said. Others have been sent recovery notices. There are dues of over Rs 700cr against all these properties.
“Most of these buildings were given on rent to various government offices that had recurring dues that remained unpaid. The agreement mentions that the rent would be increased 15% every year, but these institutions were not paying the increased rent and the interest on the amount also kept rising,” said Indu Prakash, OSD to the Noida Authority.
