We begin with breaking news as hurricane hermine hits the florida panhandle. The category 1 hurricane made landfall just before 2 00 a. M. Near st. Marks, florida, packing 80 mileperhour winds. So far three states have declared a state of emergency, florida, georgia and north carolina. There are widespread Power Outages this morning affecting tens of thousands of homes. Many schools in Southern States are closed today. The live radar shows the storm bringing strong rains and winds to a large area from tampa bay all the way up into north carolina. Its also bringing a large storm surge. There is extensive flooding in northern florida, and forecasters warn flash flooding could threaten lives. The brunt of the storm was felt further east than expected close to the state capital of tallahassee. And we have Team Coverage this morning starting there in the panhandle.
We heard only positive responses from the neighbors and from law enforcement. Reporter several groups have been protesting turners choice of residency, but the armed neighbors are the most recognized. The group carrying guns under the states open carry laws say theyre not threatening turner, just keeping him aware. Nobody is going to shoot him unless we end up being some of the people who catch him victimizing people. Reporter and, ladies, an interesting twist on this story. Just this afternoon the committee to recall judge aaron persky, the judge in the middle of this sentencing, they have now spoken out about these gun controls patrols in ohio.
