Two weeks ago, I set out to explore a few fun places to walk in greater Dartmouth. I had been asked to check out a place called The Acushnet Sawmill and when I was in the area, I saw Acushnet Sawmill Wildlife Management and assumed this was the same place boy, was I wrong.
I was hit with “You went to the wrong place!” e-mails from a few of you including an e-mail from the communications director of the Buzzards Bay Coalition, Michael Graca. In an effort to redeem myself, this week I headed to the correct Sawmill.

I’ve been at The Standard-Times for a little over two months and it has been a blast. I’ve been writing about so many talented people, unique local businesses and helping to re-tell incredible stories from all over the SouthCoast.
This week, my mom and I visited each area located within the region that I’ve been writing a majority of my stories about. We started in Mattapoisett and worked our way back to Fall River, stopping at each town or city hall in between. I learned so many interesting facts about these places – it even led to feature story about one that s alleged to be haunted.

This is part two of a two-part adventure with Pamela Jayne Morgan. Morgan is a Fall River native and grew up near the former Dubuque Elementary School. Two weeks ago, I explored some of the theaters in the SouthCoast where Morgan performed in some starring roles.
This week, Morgan showed me around her old neighborhood and highlighted some of her favorite spots she visited while growing up in the area.
Locust Street (Fall River)
We started our adventure where it all began for Morgan – the street behind her old house in Fall River. “It s a wonderful city, I had a wonderful childhood right up to my early 20s, when I did move out of there,” Morgan said.

I’m a dog uncle! And last weekend, I got to spend time with my doggy-niece, Bayes. Bayes is a mutt but her DNA test said she’s a mix of Australian cattle dog, shih tzu and poodle. Before she was adopted by my sister and her husband, she was a stray dog in rural Texas. She was adopted in May from the SNARR Northwest Adoption Center in Brewster, NY. We believe Bayes is over a year old.
My sister, Melanie, named Bayes after the statistician and philosopher, Thomas Bayes and his theorem. She uses the Bayes’ theorem in her disease modeling work as she gets her PhD in epidemiology.
