This took place at the Technology Policy institutes annual form. It is about 45 minutes. Jump right into it. We have been talking a lot about how communication and technology has changed so quickly whether you are talking about video or highspeed fiber. We spend a lot of time talking how to protect and manage legacy systems. The question to start is, looking at the competitive landscape, if you could redesign the fcc from the ground up, what would your priorities the . How would you allocate resources . Interest would you be hoping for . Good morning, everyone. Thank you for the opportunity. Redesigning is what i do. Ms. Clyburn i think part of the benefits we are realizing right now is because of reg regulation, i would not be an advocate of redesigning. I am as a kid of forward thinking.
This is getting some things done. And its appropriate that we take up this bill today. And here is why. Do you realize 8 of all 88 of all americans support Energy Independence . 88 . 65 of all americans think that building the Keystone Pipeline is what this country should do. Now, i have to tell you, i listened to the president and to the excuses that come out of the administration and i think with the Supreme Court decision in nebraska today the president is out of excuses. Hes out of excuses. Hes run the gamut on it. No more excuses. It is time that we pass it, the senate pass it and that this legislation go to the president s desk. One of my colleagues said that being here on the floor today is a waste of time. I really disagree with that, mr. Chairman. The president vetoing this legislation is a waste not only of the American Peoples time but of the resources and the taxpayer money that come into the coffers for this government to function. Create 20,000 new jobs, increase our ener

Specific future things . In particular, we talked about the pivot for america. What about the European Union . Which we will not know in the next strategy whether the u. K. Will be part of the European Union on or not. So will that be spelled out, the implications being in or out and specifically, how it will change if the u. K. Ceases to be a member of the European Union . My strategy linked in with the National Security strategy is that we secure a referendum and i want to recommend that we should remain part of a reformed European Union and i plan on the basis of success rather than the basis of anything else. But we dont european issues, we havent dealt within the National Security council. We dealt with them elsewhere in government. I accept it has important implications to the u. K. I think we should plan on the basis of what we want to achieve. Yes. Its a democratic vote. If people are going to vote the other way, despite your recommendation, it has strategic implications. Amendment number four. It deals with requirements for pilot disposal. And let me say first, dr. Coburn, anything you would like to say . Okay. Bob, if you are ready. There is an effort here to see if they can expose excess property. I have had questions as to why it is in the bill, but that is where the majority is and maybe even more. I want to make sure local governments are notified of proposed disposal property inside a local governments jurisdiction. So this amendment, which i understand has been accepted, will require local governments be notified of any properties in the jurisdiction which are made part of the expedited Pilot Program. Let me make a couple comments. I think this is a good amendment and i am pleased dr. Coburn and i have been able to come to an amendment. The Pilot Program was established under real proper legislation and it is incorporated into the this proposal the direct of the Surplus Properties will be disposed of into the program and any Agency Looking to di
