UPDATE 1.45PM, SATURDAY: A young driver involved in a train collision Friday morning is reported to be in a stable condition. The 24-year-old man was driving the Landcruiser west on Sarina-Homebush Road near Rosella when the car and train collided. He was taken to Mackay Base Hospital after the crash. An MBH spokeswoman said the Landcruiser driver was in a stable condition. Senior Sergeant Robson said the Landcruiser was a write-off with sand scattered on the tracks to clean up the spillage. He was very lucky, Sergeant Robson said. A police spokesman said the railway boom gate was destroyed.

UPDATE 9.20am: A driver has been called âvery luckyâ after his LandCruiser was written off following a crash between a ute and train near Rosella.
Senior Sergeant Trevor Robson said it may take hours for a rail tracks to be cleared following the incident at 6.40am.
