Beach Volleyball Set to Start 2022 Season with FSU Beach Bash

Tallahassee, Fla. – The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team is set to open their season at home this weekend as they welcome No. 8 Cal Poly, Southern Miss, Tampa, North Florida, UAB, No. 6 TCU, and No. 13 Florida Atlantic to Tallahassee. The matches will take place over two days, February 26-27. Florida State enters opening weekend unbeaten against their opponents. Florida State’s record against all five teams is 31-0. The Seminole’s all-time opening weekend record is 33-3 with a 55-3 record at home. The Seminoles will only face UAB, Cal Poly, FAU, and Tampa this weekend. The first match will be against UAB at 9:45 AM on Saturday, February 26th. Florida State is 10-0 all-time against UAB. UAB has only won one court against FSU and that came in 2019. The last time the two teams met was in Boca Raton, Fla. for the FAU Beach Bash in Paradise, resulting in a 5-0 win for the Noles. The second match for the Seminoles will be against No. 8 Cal Poly at 4:45 PM on Saturday. F

Beach Starts the Season 2-0

Florida State 5, Southern Miss 0 | Florida State 4, LMU 1 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (2-0) started the season off with a bang as they earned a 5-0 sweep of Southern Miss and a 4-1 win over No. 8 Loyola Marymount Saturday afternoon. Florida State started the day off with an easy win over Southern Miss, 5-0. FSU won all five matches in straight sets. The Seminoles fourth and fifth pairs started the afternoon winning both matches, giving the Noles a 2-0 lead. Both pairs jumped out to early leads in the first sets and held on to them. Avery Poppinga and Kate Privett gabbed the first set on court five 21-10. They jumped out to a quick 12-3 lead in the second set and turned that into a 21-6 win, giving FSU a 1-0 lead. Payton Caffrey and Liz Waters-Leiga picked up where they left off a season ago, as the pair won their 14th straight match together dating back to last season. February 26, 2021 - by Bret Clein Beach Set to Open the Season at Home TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team is set to open their season at home this weekend as they welcome Georgia State, Southern Miss, Tampa, No. 8 Loyola Marymount and No. 6 Cal Poly to Tallahassee. The two days of matches are all a part of the Seminole Beach Bash (February 27-28). Florida State enters the opening weekend, a combined 12-0 against the four teams they will face. Florida State is 29-3 all-time on opening weekend and 49-2 all-time at home. Florida State plays twice on Saturday, February 27 and twice on Sunday, February 28. The Seminoles kick off the weekend at 11:30 am against Southern Miss and complete day one of competition at 3:00 pm against No. 8 Loyola Marymount. Florida State is 1-0 all-time against Southern Miss with their only meeting coming in the 2019 CCSA Tournament when the Seminoles won
