We begin in Contra Costa County were firefighters say they have seen a dramatic increase in the number of vegetation fire is. We have details on several fires in the past 24 hours. Reporter i spoke with fire officials in contra costa and alameda counties. They told me crews have been busy putting out brushfires every day. With professional Fireworks Shows canceled in the bay area, they expect a very different fourth of july. This video, posted on social media, shows a fire that broke out along interstate 580 in livermore shortly before 10 thursday morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire officials tell me there are homeless encampments in the area, but they did not rule out other causes, such as illegal fireworks were discarded cigarettes. Vegetation fires are keeping firefighters in the east bay busy. This fire in concord wednesday night was one of six brushfires in just one day in Contra Costa County. It burned near a pg e facility. You know, typically in, you know, in each bedroom would have a couple fixed windows and then maybe one portion of it that is a window that you can open to get some fresh air. But the the key is that all of the units are mechanically ventilated with ducted and, you know, lugerred systems. So if there is a resident that is annoyed about the noise from the nightclub because you have the windows open, they can close the windows and their space would still be adequately ventilated. Tumlin will talk about this, but last week we did have a press event with supervisors peskin and preston announcing that we will be delaying our fare increases. Obviously when we were voting upon that fare increase, we could not have understood the magnitude of what was before us and not to mention we didnt really have a path forward in being able to fund the operations, so i want to thank you supervisors peskin and preston for working with us to come up with solutions which i cannot tell you what they are today. But to look at how we can fill those funding gaps which primarily effect us in year two of the budget cycle, not so much in year one. That will be coming back to us in the future. And also with that we will not be having a Charter Amendment related to sfmta. Thank director tumlin for his work in working with the supervisors, and just say it was a pleasure to be there to represent the board last week at kirkland lard.
