Jose. Weve got some incredible footage provided to us by san jose fire that shows us some towering flames out here. This whole thing began at about 2 00 this morning at a lumberyard on oakland road and highway 101. Workers at a neighboring business called 911 when they saw the flames. When firefighters arrived they saw the flames shooting up to 40 feet in the air. This quickly went to a second alarm and tea took a defensive strategy. Sometimes they call it surround and drown. They stay back and dump a bunch of water on it. It was stacks upon stacks of wooden palettes and that can grow pretty quickly. Its extremely hot. It burns very fast because its free burning. Theres a lot of oxygen and a lot of fuel. And a lot of heat gets transferred very quickly. So yeah, youre absolutely right. It burns very fast. And rapidly. So they did a really good job of maintaining it into that yard area and trying to confine it into there. The guys worked really hard to keep it from spreading to anywhere
Hes just a waste of life right now. Hes taken too many lives. Not just my sister, theres other victims here too. Reporter at one point naso was named a person of interest in the alphabet murders. The victims all had matching first and last initials. Joseph naso does face the death penalty. When we talked to one of the victims family members he expects naso will likely die in prison. That penalty phase starts next month. Eric rasmussen, ktvu news. We are following developing news in the east bay where a grass fire started this afternoon in the dublin hills. It was reported shortly after 2 00 this afternoon west of taxahara road in a training area. Investigators say the fire was sparked by a smoke grenade used during an outdoor military training exercise. Fire officials tell us flames consume about 170 acres before the fire was contained about two hours ago. Now right now crews remain on the scene looking for hot spots.
