Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is expected to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 13. This may cause him to miss the first meeting of the opposition bloc INDIA , of which he is a member. Banerjee had received a notice from the ED to appear for questioning on the same day as the meeting. The ED had previously conducted raids in connection with a school jobs scam and claimed that Banerjee is the CEO of the company involved.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches in multiple locations in Kolkata related to the investigation into the school jobs scam. The officials raided an office building in New Alipore and a Bhabanipur apartment, linked to Sujoy Krishna Bhadra, for specific documents related to fictitious transfer of funds made through a private company connected to an influential political family of the state.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has begun questioning primary teachers as part of its investigation into the school jobs scam in West Bengal, with around 30 of the 344 summonsed teachers from Hooghly. The CBI will question teachers in batches, and may also question district officials of the school education department.
