Manufacturers of fast-moving consumer goods are ramping up marketing and advertising campaigns as they feel optimistic that the 800-900 billion baht industry will start recovering in the third quarter of this year, boosted by vaccine rollouts across the country. By the end of this month, we expect to see a significant rise in ad spend and the momentum is expected to continue through the second half of this year, Pawat Ruangdejworachai, president of Media Intelligence Group said, adding that the market will see more marketing campaigns and launches of innovative products, which were delayed from last year to the first half of this year.

Hemp, a weed that was long regarded as a forbidden plant and included on the country s narcotics list, is taking Thailand by storm.
Ten categories of goods or products ranging from mouth spray, food supplements, skincare products and energy drinks to painkillers and spa products are cashing in on hemp s hype after the government legalised commercial growing in the country last year to promote hemp and cannabis as new cash crops.
From Jan 29, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has allowed individuals, legal entities, government offices, community enterprises and companies to register to use the legal parts of cannabis and hemp for medical purposes, as well as in the textile, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.

Piyajit Ruckariyapong, the company s chief executive, said the new pop-up coffee shop at Siam Square formally opened on Dec 21, 2020, as a pilot project to test market demand for its weight-control coffee. The popularity of weight-control coffee continues to increase every year, as reflected by product availability in various channels from traditional trade, modern trade, online and direct sales. The market for weight-control coffee is estimated at 1 billion baht, with average growth of 3-5% a year over the past several years, said Ms Piyajit.
