A longtime tradition will continue this year as students at Las Animas High School will help host the 87th Annual Santa Fe Trail Day on April 30 to May 2.
The theme of this year s event is 200 years of struggles along the Santa Fe Trail, which was chosen to coincide with the bicentennial of the Santa Fe Trail.
There are plenty of activities planned for the event with a costume contest, king and queen judging, a parade and plenty of more festivities. There will be booths downtown that day and that evening, we re going to have a street dance downtown with vendors and games, Teresa Garcia, a Santa Fe Day sponsor, said. Also, there s an art show at the museum and there will be wine and cheese to announce the winners on Friday afternoon.
