why the firefighter was able to go into one of the apartment buildings and find that dog because they were looking for hot spots this morning. about an hour ago firefighters switched out crews here. the damage is apparent from the front of the park hotel where the fire started. what isn t clear this morning is what caused the flames. there are a couple residents walking around this morning when we arrived a couple hours ago. but they did not want to go on camera to talk about their losses. we did speak to firefighters who explained this morning they use thermal imaging to check on hot spots. the fire raged through a three story apartment building last night around 5:30 here in san francisco. burning timbers fell from the front of the hotel causing the fire chief to have all of the firefighters evacuated. flames spread to two adjacent structures. one commercial, the other a six unit apartment building. a handful of people were treated for smoke inhalation. no one was seriously
