San jose Police Officer shot in the line of duty tonight. The officer recovering in the hospital after a gunman ambushes her and her partner. City leaders this evening now expressing anger and sadness about the shooting. Hes 44. She says that he was drunk and trying to hit her. And when officers arrived, basically he attacked him. Theyre calling this attempted homicide. The officer was shot one time in the upper body is what we were told. And i want you to take a listen to what the chief had to say about this. Two of our officers were ambushed while responding to a call of a family disturbance by a coward and a convicted felon with a gun that he should never have had. Now, as you mentioned, this suspect was barricaded inside of his home for about four hours.
