His body was taken to the medical examiners van, which is still here on site and they have a plan to process through the streets to honor him and his service. Lets go ahead and take a look. This is firefighter paramedic jason cortez who died just before 11 00 this morning from his injuries. He was 42 years old. He started with the San Francisco Fire Department in 2007, and was recently assigned to station number three in the tender loin, which sffd says is the busiest station in the country. As you said, this is an outpouring of respect honoring a firefighter who gave his life protecting the city that he loved. Reporter a somer gathering at San Francisco General Hospital. Firefighter jason cortez died during a training incident a few blocks away. We can confirm this was at training incident. Reporter it happened at 10 00 in the morning in the initialen district. He was treated there and taken to the hospital. Unfortunately shortly before 11 00 this morning, jason succumbed to his injuries. Reporter the Fire Department would not discuss what led to his death. The circumstances under investigation. Immediately after the incident, firefighters converged on the hospital. There they stood at attention and saluted during a somber procession. Fire danger in effect from 11 00 tonight to 8 00 a. M. Wednesday for many of the Higher Elevations of marin county, parts of napa and Sonoma County and lake county, wind gusts could reach 40 Miles Per Hour or higher. Once again, this is in the Higher Elevations and for the nxt two days. Fires can start and spread easily under thesications. For the remainder of the bay area above 1,000 feet, a fire weather watch in effect from wednesday into friday. Similar conditions, only we expect only occasional gusts during that period of time, not the stronger, steadier gusts were expecting the next two days. All right. We will be watching it closely.
