Cash 5 winning ticket worth $825,298 sold in Bridgeville

Someone who bought a Pennsylvania Lottery ticket in Bridgeville is going home richer. A winning Cash 5 ticket worth $825,298 was sold Feb. 20 at CoGo’s along Station Street, according to Lottery officials. The ticket matched all five numbers 8-24-34-39-43. Store owners will get a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Winners are identified after prizes are claimed and Cash 5 tickets expire one year from the drawing date. There were more than 38,700 other tickets that won smaller prizes in the drawing. There have been several Cash 5 winners in recent months across the region. On Jan. 9, a $195,000 winning Cash 5 ticket was sold at Thomas’ General Store along Saltsburg Road in Washington Township. That ticket was one of two that won the $390,000 jackpot. The other winning ticket was purchased at Rutter’s in York County.

A man was taken to a hospital after a head-on crash with a Penn Hills police SUV Sunday morning, authorities said. The crash happened just after 10 a.m. on Saltsburg Road near Rosedale Street, an Allegheny County 911 supervisor said. Penn Hills police Chief Howard Burton said the officer was on routine patrol in an SUV traveling west on Saltsburg Road when the other vehicle, traveling east, came around a bend in the road and swerved into the police vehicle’s lane.
