Penndot crews hit the roads to brine the highways and patch pothole as head of the snow and many hope its the last we see of the white stuff before we start spring. It better be the last hoorah, i hope it goes and doesnt come back. I hope its nothing to worry about, people get worked up when the snow comes. Nothing to get worked up like penndot, they have tons of salt ready to go, but the good news is that it will be 70 next week. Awesome, its crazy and out of contr
Going to change pretty rapidly while youre asleep tonight. That rain changing to snow and in many cases heavy snow. It is going to be snowing for the morning rush across much of the area. And possibly heavy snow during that period, leading to the biggest snowfall of the season. Most likely 4. 8 inches is the biggest in philadelphia so far and we have a very good chance of exceeding that. There is a winter storm warning for virtually the entire area except for the Lehigh Valley and poconos, which actually is going to get less snow than just about any other part of the area. There is the path now. Just patchy light rain and there isnt a whole lot more coming. So it is not going to be a real wet few hours here. But look what is back to the west. Not only heavier rain but this is the snow area. Thats going to arrive right along that and come in tonight. Were up to 39 degrees at philadelphia, hasnt been that warm in a while. Were at 37 allentown, reading. Above freezing everywhere. Even in
Afternoon period. Kate has more on the timing of the storm, inside, hi, kate. Hi kathy yeah another look at these temperatures and it is raining and raining heavily and certainly warm enough for rain, we will sit at 42 at the airport. Fortytwo in wilmington, mid 40s in wildwood ape dover. Temperatures do play a role in how quickly that rain will be able to change over to snow, as the the cold air filters in but let me take you back to the west and cold air is moving into portions of ohio, moving into indiana in the 20s in chicago and st. Louis. That is cold that will press in as our storm arrives during the overnight hours. Lets start off with our storm time line when now and 1 00 a a. M. In the city were talking about period of rain and areas of fog between 1 00 a. M. And
Jessica. Just taking a look at them right now with our producer steve. We are changing things slightly with some heavy precipitation moving in overnight and continuing for tomorrow morning right through the noon hour tapering off in the afternoon. Now take look at storm scan3. You see the yellows and oranges that is heavy rain. A transition zone that is some sleet and then some snow. You can see transition beginning through allentown the Lehigh Valley, reading berks county and through lancaster the poconos beginning to see some snow mixing in but this encompasses about 20 states so its a huge part of the country being impacted by the storm. As the colder air builds in, we are going to be seeing that changeover overnight. Visibility an issue now with this warm moist air very cold snow pack. Visibility down to three tenths of a mile in wilmington. Eight tenths of a mile in atlantic city. And as we take zoom in its improved through our suburbs but earlier mt. Holly just down to half mile.

And just in tonight the city of philadelphia says it will likely make a decision on schools early tomorrow morning. Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter has already announced a snow emergency will take effect at 6am for the city.
