Reporter the fire started in the basement of th home on iris street in rockville. A man ran out and called for help. Thats when he realized his mother was trapped inside. Survivability profile of this fire when the first units arrived was poor. There was smoke pouring from every opening. Reporter inside flames engulfed the stairwell leading to the second floor where the elderly woman was trapped. Firefighters used a complicated rescue technique to get her out. They had to enter overground enter over ground ladders. The second floor window was removed and then down ground ladder.
