Reporter hope is still alive in Southern California as a grueling search for survivors continues with over 1,000 rescue workers searching amongst debris to find any signs of life after deadly mudslides swept through Santa Barbara county on tuesday. The death toll sitting at over a dozen people so far with victims ranging in age from 3 to 89 years old. As of friday, the number of missing has dropped but people here warn the numbers of dead and missing may still fluctuate. So right now, our main concern, main focus, search andrescue. So were searching the residences that have been damaged or destroyed by the slides and to confirm if there are people needing evacuation and are trapped. Reporter the rain, mud and boulders crashed down hillsides that had recently been hit by wildfires last december. Those fires left the earth burned unable to absorb sings of rain.
