The rescue shut down the highway seven hours. Crews reopened the highway in time for the morning commute. We are hearing about a tree that brought down power lines in San Francisco and Power Outages throughout the bay area. By tuesday and wednesday, talking temps in the 60s and looking ahead to next weekend, we see an additional storm system move in. Thats going to bring back the return of rain. We know that according to chp, fred low of sacramento is in custody driving behind the deadly hit and run that took place in the east bay. As you mentioned, the person that is the lone survivor in the overturned car is jared horn. If that name sounds familiar, he plays baseball at uc berkeley. He was the star at high school where he started 15 games as a freshman for the golden bears. He was the driver of this overturned car during saturdays crash off San Pablo Dam road exit off i80. Four people in this car were killed. The car he was driving. Sources tell nbc bay area they were reportedly his family members. The names of those family members have yet to be released by family members. The driver who caused this crash was apparently driving with a suspended license according to chp. Five cars all together were part of this crash. Six people were injured, including a child. Well continue to monitor this throughout the morning and provide updates as they come in. He flew to san jose after the daring escape. He was arrested in stockton after a days long search. Police described him as a violence psychopath. This morning, the investigation set to begin on who delivered a package of explosives friday afternoon. A woman living there opened it and it explodes. She was hurt. Several agencies are investigating. Neighbors told us a Police Officer lives at that home. No word on a motive. San jose Police Investigating the 29th homicide of the year. A man was shot early yesterday morning on rainwood avenue. He later died in the hospital. Police are looking for a motive. San car low city leaders will consider delaying a gun store from opening even longer today. It started a few months ago. A Southern California dealer was about to open a new store. Took an hour to get it out. Firefighters say the homeowner had been using that home as a shortterm rental. It was vacant last night. No word on how it started. We are hearing one firefighter did suffer a type of minor injury in that clean up. More dangerous. The rumbling volcano in bali. It has been sending ash thousands of feet into the air since saturday. Authorities telling people to leave, that includes tourists, but they cant get out because balis International Airport was closed due to the ash. The last time that mountain erupted was 1963, killed more than 1,000 people. At 5 45, new this morning, doctors say the victim of a shark attack should make a full recovery. It happened friday afternoon near pebble beach. A father and son were spear fishing. Great white shark bit the son several times before he broke free and eventually swim to a boat. Overall, the highs for today, if you notice, 13 degrees cooler in san jose in the past 24 hours at this hour. As it has satellite radar, you can see that rain off to the east. Yes, even off along the coast we can see a couple of those cells pushing through in the north bay. Then your microclimate highs, all in all, fairly comfortable, cool in San Francisco, a high of 62 in oakland. A high of 62 in palo alto as well. Its trending toward the 60s. Not a big, big difference between the coastal temperatures and the inland temperatures, but it is definitely the start of the rainy season. Just kind of looking ahead, it looks like as we head into tomorrow, an additional system that might bring a chance of showers, but going to be very, very far off toward the north bay.
