Metis Nation-Saskatchewan to help residents with emergency housing repairs

Regina / 980 CJME Dec 18, 2020 4:11 PM The Metis Nation-Saskatchewan (MN-S) is taking the next step in its housing strategy, offering direct help to Metis citizens facing health and safety challenges in their homes. According to a media release issued Friday, the MN-S has reworked its emergency repair program to offer a one-time “indirect grant” to help registered nation members make critical upgrades. It is focused solely on health and safety concerns, including accessibility improvements and “capital replacement items to extend the lifecycle” of the home. “By streamlining the emergency repair program, Metis Nation-Saskatchewan is better focused and equipped to respond faster and more effectively to address the core housing needs of our citizens,” said Ryan Carriere, MN-S housing minister. “Barriers that may have prevented or stalled access to emergency funding are now gone.”
