CHITTOR: The fourth phase of panchayat polls ended on a high note, and the YSRCP-backed candidates grabbed nearly 80 percent of the votes thus sealing the fate of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and putting the political future of its president Nara Chandrababu Naidu in difficulty. After the party s severe defeat in the panchayat polls the Opposition leader embarked on a three-day tour of his Kuppam assembly constituency in Chittoor district on Thursday for what one would call as damage control and assess the cause for the drubbing in the elections.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that all help and cooperation should be extended to the beneficiaries under YSR Aasara and YSR Cheyutha.
At a review meeting on welfare schemes, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that there are 16.25 lakh beneficiaries who are availing themselves of various schemes in textiles, handicrafts, food products, jewellery and other sectors.
Under Jagananna Jeevakranthi scheme, 70,719 beneficiaries would be handed over sheep and goats, he said.
Under Jagananna Palavelluva, 1.06 lakh units would be given away to beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister also examined the proposal to felicitate volunteers and classify them into three levels. He would attend three programmes across the State, he said.

Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy hailed the YSR Congress party’s triumph in the third phase of Panchayat elections in Kuppam constituency as a ‘landslide victory’ and dedicated it as a gift to the Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The party leaders are visibly elated over bringing into their kitty more than 80% of Panchayats in the constituency considered to be the fortress of the opposition leader and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The minister called the victory a clear indication of the voters’ acceptance of the Jagan administration.
