AP Municipalities To Have Two Vice-Chairpersons And Deputy-Mayors

Mar 17, 2021, 11:00 IST AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Panchayat Raj Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said that two deputy mayors and two vice-chairpersons would be appointed in Municipal Corporations and Municipalities across the State. Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he said that an Ordinance would be sent to the Governor in this regard of appointing two deputies instead of one, as it would be easier to provide better governance for the people. As per the SEC schedule, Mayors, Vice-Chairpersons  and Deputy-Mayors will be elected on March 18 and after getting Governor’s approval, another Deputy Mayor and Vice Chairperson will be selected in ULBs.

Mar 14, 2021, 12:51 IST Andhra Pradesh Municipal Election Results 2021: Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar along with District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners and Municipal / Corporation Commissioners have been directed to take steps to complete the municipal election counting process by 8 pm across the State on Sunday. In this regard the SEC said recounting should be done only once where there is a difference of one digit votes during counting and not in respect to double digit margins. When there is a difference of two votes, the returning officers should contact the concerned District Collector before making a decision and  if any candidate seeks recounting. He clarified that recounting should be allowed only once.

URL copied AP Municipal election results 2021: Counting of votes for 12 corporations underway The counting of votes for the Andhra Pradesh municipal elections, held on March 10, is underway. Elections for 12 municipal corporations and 71 municipalities were conducted on March 10. However, as per the High Court order, the counting for Eluru municipal corporation is not taking place. A total of 27,29,072 votes were cast for 533 division members in 11 municipal corporations.  Furthermore, the counting of 21,03,284 votes polled during elections for 1633 ward members in 71 municipalities is also underway. Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) candidates won unanimously on four, Pulivendula, Punganur, Piduguralla and Macharla, municipality seats.
