Insecurity: Umahi calls for names of unemployed youths living outside Ebonyi

Governor David Umahi The Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi at the weekend directed the State leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN to conduct a census of all the unemployed Youths from the state residing outside the state to enable his administration carry out an empowerment program that would make them self-reliant. Governor Umahi gave the directive during the closing ceremony of the one week fasting and praying session for Peace and Security organized by the State Government in conjunction with the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN at the Christian Ecumenical Center Abakaliki. The Ebonyi State Governor who noted that such empowerment program is aimed at keeping the youths busy and self-reliant adding that with such empowerment programs in place, the issue of youth restivness and banditry ravaging the South East zone of late will be a thing of the past.

IPOB not responsible for most attacks in Ebonyi —Umahi Imposes curfew

Governor David Umahi The chairman of the Southeast governor’s forum and governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, on Wednesday, said that the Indigenous People of Biafra,(IPOB) were not responsible for most of the numerous attacks in parts of the state. Umahi made this known while briefing journalists on some decisions reached during this week security council meeting, held in Abakiliki. He added that the hoodlums hide under the umbrella of IPOB to carry out their evil attacks. The governor drew his view from the recent incident which happened on Tuesday at Onueke in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state where unknown gunmen attacked a bank.

The governor, who was vaccinated by his personal physician, Dr Mike Enyinnaya, at the Government House, Umuahia, encouraged residents to avail themselves of the opportunity and be vaccinated. He said, “The deployment of the vaccine as a device to fight COVID-19 is a global decision endorsed by the World Health Organisation and captured by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. Everybody must key into the agenda.” The Director, Abia State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Mrs Meg Onwu, said the state received 61,320 doses.
