This is the cbs morning news for thursday, march 27th, 2014. Good morning. Good to be with you. Im annemarie green. Well, more wet weather is forecast today in Northern Washington state where search crews are looking for victims of that massive mudslide. At least 25 people were killed. The number of people missing has been reduced, but the debris field coverages one square mile and in places 40 feet deep. Officials admit some victims may never be recovered. Bigad shaban has our report. Reporter helicopters circled above and teams canvassed the area below, part of a massive search to find dozens still missing following the devastating mudslide in Washington State. Late last night the officials decreased the number of those unaccounted for from the previous total of 176. 90 people, 90 are currently missing or unaccounted for. Firefighters are gearing up for the worst as a heat wave moves into the bay area. Good evening and thank you for joining us. Im ama dates. We have Team Coverage on the heat and fire danger. Lilian kim and Spencer Christian will have more on the heat watch, but first lets check in on the fire burning in the south bay. It started in a landfill in san jose. Tiffany wilson is live at the scene with the latest. Tiffany . Reporter i spoke with one of the owners and he said he had no idea how the fire started, but since it started it proved difficult to put out. At this hour it is very heavy and in fact they are telling people that live in the area if they are bothered to shut their windows and shelter in place. Good monday morning. A mixed bag of weather creating problems for people across the country. Strong winds, spring snow and at least one damaging tornado. Abcs larry jacobs has the details. Reporter several tornadoes sliced in nebraska blowing down buildings and trees damaging power poles and irrigation systems. Look out there. You see it . There it is. I just got my truck. Reporter the town of sutton in southeastern nebraska suffered the heaviest damage, at least two homes were destroyed. Twisters accompanied by large hail and strong winds. The Colorado Rockies hit with up to a foot of snow on mothers day, the wet, heavy snow forcing many road closures along interstate 70 west of denver.
