sort of jams that narrative up and here is why. the first request for prechb r prechb race of records came from congress on january 16. the email migration happened on january 27th. and our understanding is that they were told in december and then again on january 25th how to preserve those records, that if they were going to do it, they would need to do it themselves. basically one of these emails made that you might get at your own office from your chief information officer saying we re moving to a new system, so you are going to upload your documents, you have to do it yourself. right now the secret service again continues to say, look, we re doing everything that we can to rectify this. so for example, they have handed over about 10,000 records to the house select committee. they have this cover letter explaining what they are trying to do to rectify the situation and what they can expect to see in this 10,000 records. they also say that they are continuing to do this for
anderson, thank you very much. does former vice president mike pence really mean it when he says it s willing to sit down with the january 6th committee to tell him what he knows? it sort of sounded like he meant it when he said this in new hampshire today. if there was an invitation to participate, i would consider it. it would be unprecedented in history for a vice president to be summoned to testify on capitol hill. but as i said, i don t want to prejudge. if a formal invitation were rendered to us, we would give it consideration. but wait, there s more. the chairman of the committee, bennie thompson, said nearly two months ago the panel did invite former vice president mike pence to come in and talk to them. we would love to have former vice president pence s testimony. we have sought it, we ve talked to his attorneys in the past. okay. and then what about the next part? mr. pence claimed it would be, quote, unprecedented for a former vice president to testify
cnn learning right now some members of the trump inner circle are trying to convince him to release surveillance video of fbi agents executing the search warrant at mar-a-lago, the search that turned up 11 sets of classified documents, some marked top secret csi, one of the highest levels of classification. we don t know what that surveillance video might show. a source tells cnn aides aren t sure if the former president himself has seen the whole thing and we don t know if it s all just a political plot. that s a safe bet when it comes to the former president after all. but we do know that they have already seen what the fbi calls an unprecedented number of threats against agents following the mar-a-lago search but that s not stopping eric trump from teasing a release. you still have the surveillance tape; is that correct? are you allowed to share that with the country? absolutely with the right time time. we have more on this. there is a hearing tomorrow to unseal the
