The street, sidewalk, broke all our glass, and then paint everywhere inside. Destroyed. At least a half dozen businesses were shoveling shattered glass, including nonprofit east bay depot for creative reuse, which proudly supports recent marches and demonstrations. I know there is a lot of anger, and, you know, its sort of a perfect storm right now. So its understandable. And forgivable. Neighbors emily and james chen were helping clean up the damage. Especially if you support like whats happening, right . Like the movement in the country and black lives matter. Especially if you support that and youre impacted in this way, i think thats really tough. The cleanup here on telegraph avenue could take days. One open City Council Man tells us he has toured the damage, calls it unnecessary and counterproductive. It does not help the cause at all. It actually distracts from the cause, and it arms our local businesses. Police are investigating. Meantime, the big cleanup goes on. In oakland, c

Saw you need to open it up again. Just you could use it for something. They left the tour boat and walked across the embarcadero to this parking lot. They thought their luggage would be safe in the rental car, but they joined the 15,357 other people who have had their cars broken into so far this year in San Francisco, they lost cash. A 1,200 ipad and a 3,500 laptop. The police left a note telling the couple to come to central station. They had recovered their luggage, but they basically told us that you know, is there a chance for us getting our computers back and they said, no, youre your computer will probably end up in either vietnam or another asian country. That happened on a friday, just three days later. The ipad pinged this location in vietnam, 80,836 miles away. And that laptop containing lindas work as a photographer was long gone. We are starting out with clear sky. No fog out there at all. Nice day on the way. A few high clouds will visit us later on today. The winds are still up there, still breezy in the upper elevations. And heres a look at those upper elevations, winds that are quite gusty. By the afternoon, theyll be more onshore and those upper elevation winds will dial back. So upper 40s in the north bay, otherwise 50s around the bay with clear sky. Well get some higher clouds in by parts of the afternoon early on. And then later on again. A cold front to timeout and talk about for your friday into saturday and that eclipse viewing. Gloria good morning, lisa. We are conti
Rid of these tollbooths. Why the heck does it take so long . John grubb, the council coo, says tollbooths at the plaza have been in place since the 1950s and dont fit with the way people drive now. He says caltrans and toll authorities should have removed the tollbooths as soon as they stopped being used. And the impact is can be really catastrophic and tragic where someone is dying, you know, crashing into tollbooths. Following mondays crash, he says they should remove them immediately. Caltrans says they are currently evaluating how to fix it. Were still waiting to come up with a game plan of how we can remove that damaged equipment and replace it. But the toll booths arent the only issue. According to grubb, the way the traffic is jammed leads to an increased risk of car pollution. Its now the largest source of pm 2. 5 emissions. These are really harmful chemicals that get into the lungs of people is from the morning backup, he says. The state needs to make changes to the bridge or
