“We’re pretty excited to be back and opening up our playgrounds and our summer camp full-time this year,” Stoughton Recreation Director Matt Cauchon said. “Last year, we could only have summer camp from 8 a.m. to 12 :30 p.m. But now, we can have the camp open five days a week from 8:30 to 2, and there is an option for extended day with extra activities until 4 p.m.”
STOUGHTON A police lieutenant who was the subject of a disciplinary hearing about his alleged failure to tell his bosses about a December incident at a church involving a Black man with mental health issues will receive a two-day suspension and must undergo training.
In a Tuesday letter detailing the decision, Town Manager Robin Grimm found that Lt. Daniel McGowan s actions on Dec. 27 were in violation of the department s notification to the chief policy and a prior warning by Deputy Chief Brian Holmes in August 2019 after a previous incident in which McGowan didn t notify him or Chief Donna McNamara. My goal with any decision with any department isn t to take money out of people s pockets. It s to make better employees, Grimm said about her decision. We can address the needs of the community, get a better employee, and still hold accountability for where he didn t follow a direct order.
STOUGHTON A lieutenant who has been with the Stoughton Police Department for over 20 years could face a five-day suspension for failing to call his bosses after a December incident at a church involving a Black man who was later determined to have mental health issues.
Lt. Daniel McGowan had a six-hour disciplinary hearing Wednesday that focused on an alleged violation of department policy to notify the chiefs about incidents of heightened community interest or potential liability after a man in a coat walked into the Christadelphians Church at 48 Freeman St. on Dec. 27, asked if it was a church that police officers attended and acted as if he was concealing something.
