Aims to improve service in Hume Township area

Agri-Valley Communications has plans in the works two construct a 180-foot tower in Hume Township to help improve its coverage in the area.
“As part of our ongoing efforts to provide improved communication services in the Thumb region, we are planning to construct a new tower in Hume Township,” said Agri-Valley Communications President and CEO Edwin Eichler. “The tower will improve Thumb Cellular services in that area, including the M-25 corridor and within Port Crescent State Park.”

Ice cover on the Great Lakes is at one of its lowest known recorded points, with it potentially having consequences for the shoreline later on this year.
According to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the ice cover on the Great Lakes is at its second lowest point since NOAA started keeping records in 1973, standing at 13%. Lake Huron in particular is at its third lowest point since that time.
DNR working to get Port Austin Harbor open this year

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources, after a long delay throughout 2020, has been working in hopes that the Port Austin State Harbor can open for boaters this spring.
The docks at Port Austin State Harbor were damaged in September 2019 after a ship called the Appledore crashed into them, along with other damage due to rising water levels of Lake Huron and from ice.
