The DNR plans on having repairs to the harbor done in time for use this coming spring. (Robert Creenan/Huron Daily Tribune) The Michigan Department of Natural Resources, after a long delay throughout 2020, has been working in hopes that the Port Austin State Harbor can open for boaters this spring. The docks at Port Austin State Harbor were damaged in September 2019 after a ship called the Appledore crashed into them, along with other damage due to rising water levels of Lake Huron and from ice.
