BAD AXE The Huron County Board of Commissioners so far has not acted on any of the requests by the We the County group, either due to their informal nature or because they felt they were unnecessary.
Debb Knarian, who has spoken on behalf of We the County at the last two commissioners meetings, again asked for answers this week to previous requests the group made, along with commending them for continuing to be a voice for the county’s concerns.

BAD AXE The Bad Axe Historical Society is looking to replace a brick path to its Allen House building in the spring and is asking for community help in making that happen.
The society is selling engraved bricks to line up the path from Port Crescent Avenue to the front porch of the Allen House, which can contain the names of families, individuals, and businesses to help add to the history of Bad Axe.

CHANDLER TOWNSHIP A wind turbine in Chandler Township caught fire in the early Christmas morning hours, damaging its powerhead and one of its blades.
The turbine is part of the Harvest II Wind Project owned by Exelon Generation, the second part of a wind farm whose first phase began operations in 2008. Harvest II s second phase started operating in 2012.

UPPER THUMB Establishments in the Upper Thumb that received loans from the Paycheck Protection Program this year benefitted greatly from them as their business fluctuated this year.
The Paycheck Protection Program is run by the Small Business Administration and provided loans to businesses to help keep them open and Americans employed during the coronavirus pandemic. The loans ranged from around $150,000 upwards to $10 million and were open to applications up until Aug. 8.
