President Marcos has declared Feb. 24 a special non-working day throughout the country, applying the holiday economics principle on the anniversary of the EDSA people power revolution, the uprising that ousted his father and namesake. The declaration is contained in Proclamation No. 167 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin yesterday.
The country is celebrating the 37th anniversary of the revolution that ended the years-long martial law period under former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., which activists describe as “one of the darkest periods” in the country’s history, on Saturday, February 25.

Infrastructure giant Megawide Construction Corp. has announced its intent to operate the EDSA Busway once the government offers the project to the private sector, boasting the construction company’s capability to do both route management and station development.
