GHAZIABAD: Farmer unions on Thursday remained adamant about the proposed tractor rally on January 26. They have proposed to the Delhi police that the rally be jointly managed and coordinated by farmer volunteers and cops. While a meeting in this regard was held with Delhi police, it remained inconclusive. The alternative route suggested by the Delhi police had earlier been rejected by farmer leaders.
“We have every right to hold the tractor rally on January 26. Even the Supreme Court has not said anything forbidding it. We assure everyone that the rally will be peaceful. Since the protests started, we have maintained discipline. Our words should be taken seriously,” said Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait.
