Canyon ISD approves salary raises for 2021-22 school year

The Canyon Independent School District Board of Trustees elected new board officers during its latest school board meeting Monday.
Bill Jenkins was approved as the newest board president, replacing Bruce Cobb. Jenni Winegarner will be the board’s vice-president, Matt Parker will be the new secretary and Randy Darnell will serve as the associate secretary.
The board, in their new roles, took action regarding employee salaries for the 2021-22 school year. Members of the board approved a plan for a 3.5% raise for employees in the midpoint family for the 2021-22 academic school year.

Fed-up neighbours are planning to move due to constant fires at a derelict building.
Residents of School Road Back, close to Acle New Road, Great Yarmouth, have suffered as the old Abbeville care home has been set ablaze multiple times over the past two years.
One resident said: I’ve been here 15 years, and the ongoing fires have become a really bad issue. We re looking to move soon.
Christine Nicholson, 70, of School Road, said: “The first fire was really bad as the wind was blowing towards our house. There was so much smoke.
Over the last two days, boards from various school districts certified the results of the election which occurred earlier this month, electing four open spots on their respective boards for four-year terms.
After the results from May’s election were officially canvassed at the respective board meetings, the results are now final. The elected members of the board are scheduled to be sworn in at a regular board meeting in the near future.

Voters in Potter and Randall counties voted to keep the three incumbents on the Amarillo ISD board in office in May’s election.

Tributes have been paid to a fearless former city councillor who represented Norwich people for 40 years.
David Bradford, MBE, who represented Crome ward on Norwich City Council from 1978 until 2019, died on Saturday, May 1. He was 76.
Made an MBE for services to the voluntary sector in 2008, Labour councillor Mr Bradford served as Norwich s Lord Mayor in 1988/89, with his good friend the Rev Jack Burton as Sheriff.
Two years ago, after standing down from City Hall, he was given the honorary title of alderman – the highest honour the council can bestow on former councillors.
