Days after Delhi violence, Kisan Mahapanchayat calls off protest at Shahjahanpur border ANI | Updated: Jan 28, 2021 20:18 IST
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], January 28 (ANI): Kisan Mahapanchayat leader Rampal Jat announced on Thursday that members of his organisation will vacate the Shahjahanpur site in Alwar on the Rajasthan-Haryana border where they were sitting in protest for nearly two months, following the Republic Day violence.
This comes a day after Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan and the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Bhanu) withdrew from the agitation at the borders of Delhi.
Rampal Jat, national president, Kisan Mahapanchayat also said that they are withdrawing from the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella union of over 40 farmer groups.

Even as the farmers agitation continues at the borders of Delhi-NCR, several smaller farmers unions have pulled out of the protest after the January 26 violence in the national capital.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Saturday claimed that the Centre had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying it would not implement the M S Swaminathan Commission report and added that by doing so, it had “backstabbed” the farmers.
Hitting out at the BJP-led central government, he said while it favoured waiving the loans of corporates, it was “reluctant” to do so when it came to the farmers.

On Sunday, locals near agitation site in Shajahanpur of Rajasthan s Alwar had pitched tents on one carriageway of the highway against the farmers agitation. Sumer Singh, a protesting villager said their work and employment have been adversely affected due to the farmers blockade and demanded its immediate removal.
