Along with the changes made in import policy, the Centre has asked state governments to monitor pulses under the Essential Commodities Act to control any spike in prices. As prices of most of the pulses are ruling close to the minimum support price levels, trade participants are surprised by the policy changes.
JAIPUR: In view of the farmers’ agitation against Centre’s three farm laws, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a united front of over40 farmers’ unions, on Wednesday announced that “all road toll plazas in Rajasthan will be made toll free from February 12”. It was announced by Samyukt Kisan Morcha’s Darshan Pal in a press statement.
Meanwhile, a statewide Kisan Adhikar Yatra under the leadership of Rampal Jat, national president of Kisan Mahapanchayat, will begin on Thursday to strengthen the ongoing farmers’ movement in support of legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP). In the first phase, the ‘yatra’ will start from Jaipur. It will finally reach Jaipur having travelled throughTonk-Bundi-Kota-Baran-Chittorgarh-Bhilwara-Rajsamand-Jodhpur-Ajmer.

Jaipur: After the violence during the tractor rally by farmers in Delhi on January 26, locals in Shahjahanpur on the Rajasthan-Haryana border have asked protesting farmers to vacate the Jaipur-Delhi national highway which they blocked for the past 50 days.
Thousands of farmers have been sitting in protest near Shahjahanpur on the Jaipur-Delhi national highway, demanding repeal of the Farm Laws. The farmers began the dharna on December 11 after being denied permission by the BJP government in Haryana to march to Delhi. The Congress government of Rajasthan has been backing the dharna with several Congress leaders visiting the protest site in a show of support.

Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lok Shakti) withdrew their agitation against the farm laws, the Kisan Mahapanchayat on Thursday said it would vacate the Shahjahanpur protest site in the wake of the violence in Delhi on Republic Day. We had disassociated ourselves from Samyukt Kisan Morcha on January 21 but were supporting the protest. Now, we ll support the movement after analysing every step. We have decided to vacate the protest site at Shahjahanpur (Rajasthan-Haryana border), ANI quoted Kisan Mahapanchayat leader Rampal Jat as saying.
