Ramesh Jarkiholi refutes sexual harassment charges
BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi, who had stepped down as minister on March 3 following allegations of sexual harassment against him, said on Tuesday that the videos purportedly showing him with a woman were fake and vowed to send the conspirators behind bars. I am innocent. This CD (video clips) are 100 per cent fake. There is no doubt about it, Jarkiholi told reporters.Â
The Gokak MLA s claim came two days after social activist Dinesh Kallahalli withdrew the police complaint against him, alleging he had sexually harassed a job aspirant and threatened her and family with dire consequences.Â

Bengaluru, Mar 03: In a recent development, BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi tendered his resignation as Water Resources Minister on Wednesday, following the controversy over the alleged sex for job scandal.
His resignation came hours after a video was leaked to media channels of the minister getting intimate with a woman. Meanwhile, social activist Dinesh Kallahalli had filed a complaint at Cubbon Park police station on Tuesday evening, alleging that Ramesh Jarkiholi had threatened the woman, whom he had lured assuring a job in Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited.
Initially, the BJP leader had refused to step down. His brother and BJP MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi had met Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday morning demanding a CBI or CID probe into the leak. However, the Chief Minister asked him to resign from the post to prevent further embarrassment to the government ahead of the upcoming budget session.

The resignation of Water Resources Minster Ramesh Jarkiholi from the Karnataka Council of Ministers seemed inevitable, after the alleged sex scandal broke out. One terms it as inevitable for a combination of reasons: the embarrassment caused to the party at a critical juncture both nationally and at the state level; the start of the Karnataka Assembly session next week and the pressure on the state leadership to defuse a political time-bomb ; to deal with the internal contradictions within the ruling party at the state level and of course, to maintain the high moral ground if there were to be one at all, in contemporary politics and society!
