Erratic supply hits vaccination, fresh supply to come today after five days | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: With the possibility of the third wave looming large, the immunization authorities are finding it difficult to vaccinate the 18-plus category persons due to erratic supply of vaccines. The department officials said even as they have to inoculate around 25 to 26 lakh persons who are above 18 years of age, the immunisation authorities have undertaken 14,41,147 vaccinations, including first and second doses, till July 24. They said of these, 11,49,957 persons have received the first dose and 2,91,190 both. On July 23, the health department had got a stock of 19,000 vaccines, which was utilised the next day. Now, the stock of 30,000 vaccines is expected to arrive on Thursday. So, it will be after four days that inoculation will restart in Ludhiana.

Weekly casualties lowest in yr | Ludhiana News

LUDHIANA: The district has recorded the lowest weekly Covid casualty count in the past one year. One death was reported from July 2 to July 8, according to the state health department report. The count was 83.3% more in the preceding week (June 25 to July 1), when the disease claimed six lives. Eleven residents succumbed to the virus between June 18 and 24; 17 between June 11 and 17; 41 from June 4 to 10; 68 from May 28 to June 3; 131 between May 21 and 27; 151 during May 14 to 20; record 174 from May 7 to 13. On the state chart in weekly Covid fatality figure, Ludhiana shares 17th spot with Tarn Taran, Patiala and SBS Nagar. Mansa is at the top with 13 deaths, Bathinda is second (8) and Amritsar and Hoshiarpur third (7). No deaths were reported from Ropar and Barnala.

LUDHIANA: After more than a year, active cases in Ludhiana have fallen below the 200-mark. As per the state media bulletin, the number of active cases in the district was 197 on Wednesday. The second lowest count, in the period, was on October 26 last, when the figure was 208. There were 328 active cases on July 1; 306 on July 2; 282 on July 3; 255 on July 4; 223 on July 5; and 210 on July 6. In the previous month, the active cases fell from 3,916 on June 1 to 326 on June 30. The highest number of active cases (3,867) during the first wave was recorded on August 22 last. In the second wave, record 13,217 active cases were logged on May 16.

According to the health department data, 167 cases were registered between June 27 and July 3. In the preceding week (June 20 to 26), the number was 256. There were 449 cases between June 13 and 19; 901 from June 6 to 12; 1,658 between May 30 and June 5. There were 9,080 cases between May 2 and 8; 9,587 (the highest in the second wave) between May 9 and 15; 5,568 from May 16 to 22 and 3,173 from May 23 to 29. The weekly case count was twice below 200 this year: between January 10 and 16 (196) and in its preceding week (198). The previous year, the highest number of cases (2,802) was registered between September 13 and 19.

Ludh among districts with low vax adverse events | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: Ludhiana has crossed one million vaccination recently and the district witnessed about 0.002% persons suffering from adverse events following immunisation (AEFI), according to a recent report. Ludhiana is among the districts with low adverse events among vaccinated persons. According to a health department report of Thursday, of the 9,63,237 persons who received first dose, there were 20 cases of AEFI in Ludhiana. The report suggests that Amritsar has highest number of AEFI among the districts of state with 36 such cases reported in the district. Sangrur and Kapurthala shared the third position in 19 AEFI cases. Fatehgarh Sahib district had no such cases till June 24.
