Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Friday noted that the shortcomings of the current multilateral system were laid bare by the COVID-19 pandemic and asserted that there is no retreat from multilateralism or globalisation. Delivering remarks at the conclusion of the 6th edition of Raisina Dialogue, Shringla said, The broader theme of technology and geo technology ran through the dialogue. How technology can be harnessed to help and not hurt is one of the great questions of the day. Algorithms must help but not harm, transparency is required, forward-looking and positive rules that are congruent with good public policy. The shortcomings of the current multilateral system laid bare by the pandemic evoked discussion. There is no retreat from multilateralism or globalisation. Multilateralism needs to be strengthened, he added.

Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid in Raisina Dialogue said that India with its vaccine supply showed an example of how multilateralism should work.

While hailing India s effort to provide vaccine to the world, Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid said that India is an example of how multilateralism and the idea of a global village should function. The Minister was speaking virtually at Raisina Dialogue on Thursday. He also added that India s vaccine deployment was done to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking further in the session titled Beyond Covid: Global Public Health after the Pandemic he mentioned that the pandemic has taught us the first and foremost lesson is the importance of multilateralism. He also added that the way the international community came together initially to fight the pandemic was commendable.

NEW DELHI: Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh reiterated that India is all for achieving free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
In his opening remarks for Raisina Dialogue- 2021 in New Delhi, Admiral Singh said India will grow together with others having a collective and cooperative connotation, where convergences will be based on ‘achieving something’ rather than being ‘against someone’.
“And that something is a free, open and inclusive Indo- Pacific,” said the Navy Chief. “Free – means freedom to engage in lawful activities in pursuit of prosperity. Open – implies open to all Nations in the Region, as also others beyond who have a legitimate stake in the common pursuit of progress and prosperity of the Region. And Inclusive – collaborative and cooperative framework that welcomes everyone to join and work together.”
Elaborating his point that Quad was not an Asian NATO, Jaishankar spelt out 10 subjects including vaccine collaboration and climate action that the grouping had discussed so far.
