Sigourney Girls Track Place Fourth at BGM

A rare Friday night meet for the Sigourney girls’ track team translated to a fourth place finish out of six teams at BGM. The Savages racked up 89 points compared to Lynnville-Sully’s 142 to claim the meet crown. Kaylee Weber did her thing in the field events winning the discus (90’6.75’’) and shot put (32’7’’). Other top finishes include 4x100m relay second (56.42), shuttle hurdle relay second (1:16), Macy Fisch second in the shot put (31’1’’), Carly Goodwin third in the 100m (14.14), and Rain Barthelman third in the 400m hurdles (1:16).  Full results can be found below.

Savage Girls Place Fourth at Ruth Ahrens

Marengo was the destination for the Sigourney girls’ track team on Monday night for the Ruth Ahrens Invitational and the Savages finished fourth. Sigourney placed fourth out of eight with 72 points while Montezuma won it all with 123. The two first place events belonged to Kaylee Weber with the senior having the longest heave in the discus (93’7’’) and shot put (34’2’’). Rain Barthelman had a strong showing in the 400m hurdles in second (1:18), the 4x100m relay placed third (57.64), shuttle hurdle relay in third (1:17), sprint medley in third (2:07), Macy Fisch fourth in the discus (80’9’’) and shot put (31’6’’), and Amiya Smallwood fourth in the 200m (30.66). 

Sigourney Track Places Sixth at Lynnville-Sully

The Sigourney boys and girls track teams traveled to Lynnville-Sully on Tuesday for the Hawk Coed Relays and both squads placed sixth. The girls nabbed sixth place out of eight with 63 points while the Hawks won their own meet with 159. Kaylee Weber had another strong day in the field events by placing second in the shot put (33’7’’) and third in the discus (90’11’’). Rain Barthelman had a third place finish in the 400m hurdles (1:20), the shuttle hurdle relay was third (1:22), and Macy Fisch was fifth in the shot put (29’11.5’’).  The Savage boys garnered 76 points for their sixth place team finish and Lynnville-Sully made it a clean sweep with 147.5 points. Mason Moore dominated the long distance events by winning both the 1600m (4:58) and 3200m (11:06). Gavin Sereg was the other champ in the high jump clearing 5’10’’.
