Good Evening And Welcome to the Bbc News at six. Sir Keir Starmer has promised National Renewal in his first speech to the Labour Party Conference as Prime Minister but he warned of tough choices ahead. The Prime Minister insisted that keeping a Cool Head during challenging times would be better in the long term than easy answers. And he pledged to stabilise the economy but made it clear that some of his decisions would be unpopular. Our political editor, Chris Mason is at the conference in liverpool. Conference, please welcome| Keir Starmer, prime Minister And Leader of the labour party. Little wonder the audience in here are whooping. They have waited 15 years to hear a sentence like that at their conference. A party so often crushed by defeat, basking in winning. Take pride that labour won in every single region in england. Take pride that labour won in wales. Take pride that labour won in scotland. Governing is always difficult for every party, and thats before Slip Ups and unforce

Electron Scattering from 1-Methyl-5-Nitroimidazole: Cross-Sections for by Ana I Lozano, Lidia Álvarez et al

In this study, we present a complete set of electron scattering cross-sections from 1-Methyl-5-Nitroimidazole (1M5NI) molecules for impact energies ranging from 0.1 to 1000 eV. This information is relevant to evaluate the potential role of 1M5NI as a molecular radiosensitizers. The total electron scattering cross-sections (TCS) that we previously measured with a magnetically confined electron transmission apparatus were considered as the reference values for the present analysis. Elastic scattering cross-sections were calculated by means of two different schemes: The Schwinger multichannel (SMC) method for the lower energies (below 15 eV) and the independent atom model-based screening-corrected additivity rule with interferences (IAM-SCARI) for higher energies (above 15 eV). The latter was also applied to calculate the total ionization cross-sections, which were complemented with experimental values of the induced cationic fragmentation by electron impact. Hydrogenated amorphous silicon high flux x-ray detectors for synchrotr by Matthew J Large, Marco Bizzarri et al

Objective. Microbeam radiation therapy (MRT) is an alternative emerging radiotherapy treatment modality which has demonstrated effective radioresistant tumour control while sparing surrounding healthy tissue in preclinical trials. This apparent selectivity is achieved through MRT combining ultra-high dose rates with micron-scale spatial fractionation of the delivered x-ray treatment field. Quality assurance dosimetry for MRT must therefore overcome a significant challenge, as detectors require both a high dynamic range and a high spatial resolution to perform accurately. Approach. In this work, a series of radiation hard a-Si:H diodes, with different thicknesses and carrier selective contact configurations, have been characterised for x-ray dosimetry and real-time beam monitoring applications in extremely high flux beamlines utilised for MRT at the Australian Synchrotron. Results. These devices displayed superior radiation hardness under constant high dose-rate irradiations on the orde
