In the preseason, Helias coach Weston Keleher talked about Drake Perkins being under the radar this wrestling season for the Crusaders. The sophomore’s time in the shadows may be coming to an end as Perkins went 7-0 this weekend for the Crusaders in the Missouri Duals at Rackers Fieldhouse
It took a trip through the alphabet to decide a winner. Eli Teiberis of Jefferson City defeated Justin Weiberg of Helias by decision in their 126-pound match to wrap up the third-place dual Saturday afternoon in the Missouri Duals at Rackers Fieldhouse. That made the score Jefferson City 34, Helias 34. There are no ties in wrestling.
Carter Prenger did it again.
Earlier this season, Prenger won by fall against defending Class 1 113-pound state champion Brayden Dubbs of Centralia. Friday night at the Missouri Duals, Prenger won by fall against Class 1 106-pound champion Lucas Barry of St. Michael the Archangel.
Helias never got the lid off the basket. The Lady Crusaders shot 25 percent overall, 21 percent from beyond the arc and 35 percent from the free-throw line Wednesday as the Southern Boone Lady Eagles took a 53-36 win at Rackers Fieldhouse.
