The chair of this Water Quality task force is firm on the position, tap water in milwaukee is safe even for higher risk homes. As long as residents are taking a few extra measures. Still, the city aims to be proactive, with lead water issues. Theres just no safe lead level exposure for children. Storm team 4 meteorologist Brian Niznansky happening this morning. The first meeting of milwaukees new Water Quality task force. It was put together because of concern regarding the lead pipes used to pump water into old homes. Pete zervakis joins us live from happening today. This mornings first meeting of the Water Quality task force is set for 9 am at city hall. The group was put together to study how to make sure milwaukees Drinking Water stays safe. According to the city. The water itself is clean and ok to drink. But in some older homes those built pre1951. Lead pipes are being used to transport water from city water properties. And then from Property Line to the water meter. That lead can dissolve and seep into the water. The city notified about 70 thousand such homeowners of the risk earlier this year.
