Doha: The Minister of Public Health, H E Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari, has urged the public to get vaccinated, particularly those who are 60 years of age or older and people with chronic health conditions to reduce the risk of chronic COVID-19 syndrome.
“While the majority of patients recover well from the COVID-19 infection, there are some who have significant long-term health consequences. To reduce the risk of chronic COVID-19 syndrome, we urge the public to get vaccinated as soon as they have the opportunity to do so, particularly those who are 60 years of age or older and those with chronic health conditions as they are more at risk of serious illness from this disease. Dubai: A 65-year-old Qatari citizen who was infected with COVID-19 has been finally discharged from the Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital after 144 days of being admitted to the hospital for treatment, local media reported.
The patient had been suffering from severe complications due to his COVID-19 infection for which he has stayed in hospital as an inpatient since September 2020, Hamad Medical Corporation said in a report on its website.
The patient, who had been complaining of pulmonary arterial blood pressure, was admitted to Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital after being diagnosed with acute pneumonia due to COVID-19. His condition deteriorated until it reached lung fibrosis, acute respiratory failure and complete liver function disorders.
Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital (HMGH) announced the discharge of a 65-year-old Qatari National after recovery from COVID-19. The patient had been suffering from severe complications due to his COVID-19 infection for which he has stayed in hospital as an inpatient since September 2020.

Doha: Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI) has recently opened its first wellness clinic for the elderly in Qatar. The new clinic is a preventive medicine clinic aimed at providing integrated medical, rehabilitation and psychological care for the elderly within the framework of the healthy aging priority under the National Health Strategy 2018-2022.
The Elderly Wellness Clinic includes a consultant in the specialty of Community Medicine and Preventive Medicine, a consultant of Internal Medicine for the elderly, a physiotherapist and a Dietician, in addition to a nursing team specialized in the field of elderly health. The clinic receives patients referred thereto from the age of sixty and over; males and females on Mondays every week, the days per week shall increase upon expansion of the clinic in the future.
