POLICE REPORTS FOR MAY 7, 2021 By John Smathers May 7, 2021 2:44 PM State Police in DuBois have filed criminal charges against a Reynoldsville man who allegedly threatened a woman with a gun during an incident in Washington Township of Jefferson County on Tuesday. According to ExploreJeffersonPA.com, police were dispatched to the scene around 6:40 pm and spoke with the victim who reported a vehicle pulled in behind her at her relative’s residence and 31-year-old David Michael Chapdelaine got out, with a pistol in hand, and threatened her. Police then interviewed Chapdelaine and a passenger is his vehicle. The passenger reported that Chapdelaine did have a gun during the argument but did not disclose any other details. Chapdelaine reportedly admitted that he did argue with the victim, had a gun in hand, and threatened her but he said he did not point the gun at her.

BROOKVILLE TO INVESTIGATE ALL RESIDENTIAL PARKING IN BOROUGH By John Smathers May 5, 2021 3:06 PM Brookville will expand its study of parking in residential areas across the borough after residents at Tuesday’s council meeting raised new concerns and objected to some early recommendations of the public safety committee. According to the Punxsy Spirit, residents on Marlin and Craig streets have raised several concerns regarding parking tickets, lack of spaces, and how the lack of spaces could effect potential home-buyers’ decisions. In response to the concerns, council agreed to an ongoing study, noted police will not enforce the parking ordinance on the effected streets, and referred the matter back to the public safety committee for a larger-scale investigation.

COUNTY STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDS By John Smathers May 3, 2021 12:32 PM The Jefferson County commissioners discussed the American Rescue Plan, a federal COVID-19 relief effort at last week’s meeting. According to the Punxsy Spirit, commission chair, Jack Matson, said the county has been waiting for funds from the state and federal governments but has not received the funds yet. Commissioner Jeff Pisarcik noted that the money is not coming from the county. Matson said some preliminary plans have been made regarding how to best use the funds but they have to see how they’re permitted to spend it first noting the rules and regulations that came along with the CARES Act.

POLICE REPORTS FOR APRIL 29, 2021 By John Smathers Apr 29, 2021 | 1:24 PM A former Big Run Borough Council member has reportedly confessed to stealing $5,000 from the Big Run War Memorial Fund. The Punxsy Spirit reports that 67-year-old Bonita “Bonnie” Kay Haugh of Punxsutawney is facing one felony count of theft by deception. Haugh is accused of intentionally obtaining or withholding property and misappropriating checks belonging to the Big Run War Memorial Fund over a period of several years after an investigation that began in 2019. A preliminary hearing is set for May 25. Police say a Punxsutawney woman was injured in a crash that occurred in Pine Township of Jefferson County last week.

POLICE REPORTS FOR APRIL 22, 2021 By John Smathers Apr 22, 2021 2:59 PM A Punxsutawney man is facing child endangerment charges after his two young daughters were found running down the sidewalk in cold temperatures early Sunday morning. The Punxsy Spirit reports that 28-year-old Zackery Reinard has a preliminary hearing set for June 8. The charges stem from an incident that began when police were dispatched to the 600 block of Cherry Street around 1:30 am after a report that two young girls, ages 2 and 3, were running down the sidewalk with no shoes or coats on. Officers say the girls also appeared to have dirt and small cuts on their faces and their hair looked as though it had not been washed for several days. Police say Reinard woke up just after 3:00 am and called 911. Police informed him his daughters were safe at the station with officers and child service workers. Reinard reportedly told police he fell asleep and forgot to lock the door. Police reported Reinard’
