you know, she s got a lot of kids. she s got three sons and we all in jail. and i m the youngest. so, you know, it hurts her. i ve never been to prison. hopefully i make the best of it, you know? i made the best of it here. taryn stout-barstow has made the best of her 90 days at santa rita as well. i m really happy with the results here at the santa rita jail. we have good stuff going on. stout-barstow was convicted of child endangerment after police found her acting erratically at an electronics store with her 6-year-old son in tow. before jail, stout-barstow worked as a stripper, whose stage name was nicki. i actually started out when i was 17 in alaska, dancing. stripping, actually. whatever. she says one of her tattoos earned her extra tips. that bottom one says doggy style. makes you more money at the club. makeup played a big role in
laney marcert? yes. have a seat. i m going to ask you a few questions. you ever been through this process before? no. first time in our county jail? yes. you been in juvenile hall? no. never been arrested before? no. are you addicted to any drugs or alcohol right now? yes. what are you addicted to? alcohol and heroin. too young for that. i know. a short time later, markert is handed a blue jump suit, the uniform worn by female inmates assigned to minimum security general population. you can t take your own personal underwear or bra. so you have to put that on and then all your personal belongings go in there and tie it in a knot and let us know when you re changed. i don t know. this is weird that i m in a suit or like in this and not in my
meth. i was having like night terrors and i didn t want to sleep and everything. it was [ bleeped ] up. i was starting to think that people were possessing my and my son s body. it wasn t crystal meth, i ll tell you that. it was bad news. i was trying to tell the cops, and you know how they say the truth will set you free? no, the truth be getting you in trouble. they got my son taken and got me locked up. stout-barstow says her drug use began a couple of years earlier, and now she s not only in jail, her son is in foster care. everything is probably for the best, but it sucks that my son has to go through the emotional damage. i can get over it, but i m not sure that my son will be able to. and my son right now, they won t even tell him that i m in jail. he probably thinks that i just up and left him and ain t coming back. i try not to think about it, because there s nothing i can do while i m in here. i try really hard not to think about it and maybe that s why i m so happy.
converting stout-barstow into nicki. now she only has access to it in her cosmetology class. but back at her bunk, she makes due with the things she is allowed to have. this is my little makeup case i ll be using. to make the cover-up, i use coffee, lotion, and baby powder, and mix it all together with a little bit of tooth paste. tooth paste is like multi-purpose here. pencils, do the eye shadow thing. this is tooth paste and pencil lids and put it all together in this empty mascara thing. this is a mascara applicator, but usually i just use my pencil. somebody gave me an empty one. with the jail, the jail sucks really bad, so you have to put sucky candy in it. jolly ranchers, anything with sugar will give you a good hold. okay, this is the finished product. all homemade, jail-made [ bleep ]. i m an artist, you know what i
