to make the cover-up, i use coffee, lotion, and baby powder, and mix it all together with a little bit of toothpaste. toothpaste is like multi-purpose here. color pencils, do the eyeshadow thing. this is toothpaste and pencil lids that i put all together and stuck is in this empty mascara thing. this is a mascara applicator, but usually i just use my pencil. somebody gave me an empty one. with the jail, the jail sucks really bad, so you have to put sucky candy in it. jolly ranchers, anything with sugar will give you a good hold. okay, this is the finished product. all homemade, jail-made [ bleep ]. i m an artist. you know what i mean? i ve always done hella, hella makeup on the out. i like to look how i do on the out, so i don t feel trapped. i feel more like me. laney markert on the other hand isn t feel like herself at all.

you ever been arrested? no. are you addicted to any drugs or alcohol right now? yes. what are you addicted to? alcohol and heroin. markert arrived at santa rita a couple of hours earlier, after she was arrested at her high school and charged with drug possession. so what happened? we were smoking in the bathroom and someone smelled it and told the office and the office came into the bathroom and smelt it and told us to come out and we went straight to the office, got searched. so and then i got caught. and you ended up in santa rita. yeah, for the first time in my life. as she awaits assignment to a housing unit, markert receives an unofficial orientation from two current santa rita inmates. this is why people don t want to be here. it s nasty. it s disgusting. this is what you get. mcdonald s fries, this is your mcdonald s fry. and they call that beaver tail. what? beaver tail.
