Greg Abbott’s decision to eliminate the mandate that has kept restaurant capacity limited and masks secured to faces sparked concern and baffled a restaurant community that was taken off guard by the sudden evaporation of health-minded measures. Next Wednesday, the statewide order disappears. It marks a shift of responsibility to business owners who will now determine and enforce their own rules. It puts restaurant owners providers of hospitality in the precarious position of enforcer.

Man, 72, rushed to hospital after falling on Chorley quarry while clearing paths A 72-year-old man who injured his shoulder and ribs after taking a tumble while clearing paths in Denham Quarry was helped by a mountain rescue team. Wednesday, 6th January 2021, 5:19 pm Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team (BPMRT) were called to the scene by ambulance crews at around 11.25am today (January 6). The man, who reportedly injured his shoulder and ribs during the fall, was carried to safety by 22 team members who used their specialist skills and equipment . He was then taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment. Photos from the scene show the patient being carried on a stretcher through the snow, with the rescue taking approximately one hour and 45 minutes due to the icy conditions.

Mountain Rescue Team called to assist woman injured whilst sledging A young woman was injured whilst sledging in Clayton-Le-Woods. Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) posted images last night (Saturday January 2) after the woman hit a rock and damaged her knee . Bowland Pennine MRT said, “Earlier this evening we were requested by the North West Ambulance Service to assist with a young female who had been sledging in the snow. The message added: “Once on scene it was determined that she had a mid-shaft Femur break which required urgent hospital attention. “With the ambulance crew on scene, we stretchered her across the snow to an ambulance where she was then transferred into Preston Royal Hospital.
