The city is looking at changing it’s branding image.
Currently, the city is being marketed as Canada’s Premier Boating Destination, which Mayor Dan Reynard says is 10 years old and might need to be revisited.
“There have been some successes, but there have also been goals that maybe weren’t obtainable,” says Renyard, “They’re looking at bringing it back…redeveloping not only the branding but making Kenora a tourism destination.”
The City is looking to revise the Tourism Destination Marketing Strategy and redevelop its brand.
“You look at the winter…snowmachines, skiing, ice fishing…there’s all kinds of opportunity. The ‘premier boating destination’ kind of pigeon holes you to one season with maybe a little overlap. They’re looking at making tourism in Kenora a 12-month thing.”
