Council Begins Work On Strategic Plan

The city’s new five-year strategic planning process is underway. City Council got its first crack at it Tuesday morning and gave their input. Councillor Andrew Poirier admits he has problems with Kenora current branding slogan of being North America’s Premier Boating Destination. “It never sat well with me…our whole focus was on the lake with boats,” says Poirier, “Last time I looked a good chunk of the population don’t own a boat and there aren’t very many mechanisms to get out on the lake.” Councillor Chris Van Walleghem said it does the city a disservice.
