Kenora, ON, Canada / 89.5 The Lake Apr 21, 2021 10:12 AM There was some hesitancy Tuesday afternoon when City Council voted to move forward with efforts to re-brand the city. That hesitancy came from Councillor Mort Goss, who says his vote in favour came with some reluctance. “While I support a brand, I’m also concerned that we haven’t fully developed what we were supposed to do,” says Goss, “We didn’t follow through on all the recommendations of the (previous) brand proposal.” He explains that the City spent a good chunk of money on the development the ‘premier boating destination’ brand. “We spent $50,000, brought in a major brand developer who had worked with Whistler etcetera. That brand was starved to death. We didn’t have the money, we didn’t have the municipal accommodation tax to sink into it, and the brand seemed to lose a little flavour and favour.”
